Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why Should I Choose All Weather ArmourGuard?

“Any Project – Any Climate – Any Season – We Have a Solution Just Right for You”

Debris and ice formations such as dams will cause damage to all types of buildings and roofs. These formations, regardless of size, create excessive weight for rooftops. They also block off current runoffs necessary for draining. Before you know it, this causes water damage to both the interior and exterior of your property. All Weather Armour IceArmour Roof Ice Melt Systems protect your investment by keeping your gutters clear year round.

All Weather Armour –  IceArmour Roof Ice Melt Systems provides the maximum heat transfer in the industry. The technology and design behind our systems eliminates the serious dangers that are associated with snow and ice buildup.

We have industry-leading warranties on our systems: 40 years on All Weather Armour Ice Melt Roof and Gutter Systems and 10 years on the All Weather Armour Self Regulating Heat Cables.

The unique and affordable design of an All Weather Armour IceArmour Roof Ice Melt System reduces the consumption of energy while maximizing heat transfer. The low cost and reduced environmental impact make this the ideal choice for many homeowners and contractors. Unlike many other gutter protection structures, ours does more than simply eliminating icicles and ice dams. It works year round. During the warmer months, it stops leaves and debris from clogging gutters as well.

Traditional zig-zag heating cables are an eye sore, and can be dangerous as they are exposed to the elements and wild life. The All Weather Armour IceArmour Roof Ice Melt System provide a sleek addition to any exterior. The aesthetic look appeals to not only homeowners, but architects as well.

Our systems utilize a stainless steel mesh and aluminum or stainless steel frame.  This helps keep gutters free of debris while providing a durable yet appealing design.

All Weather Armour uses the only the best materials. Aluminum extrusions provide the best heat transfer and offer the strength to survive the most menacing environments. The Kynar 500/Kylar 5000 paint finish retains its integrity far longer than traditional powder coating to withstand against chipping and/or fading, while not impeding thermal dynamic performance.

All Weather Armour – Ice Melt Roof and Gutter Systems provide guaranteed safety by eliminating the danger of melting ice on entrance ways, walkways and high traffic areas. Unfortunately, accidents do happen and the results could end in an ugly lawsuit. Avoid this problem best by preventing it. A Gutter System is necessary for businesses and other high traffic areas.

Ice formations and dams can lead to expensive repairs such as damage to roofs, exterior and interior walls and so much more. Eliminate this risk with the year-round protection that an All Weather Armour IceArmour Roof Ice Melt Systems provide.

  • Will I still have to clean my gutters occasionally?

No…Never. ArmourGuard gutter protection systems are completely sealed. No debris of any kind can penetrate the fine mesh system. Only water can enter your gutters.

  • Can The Gutters Overflow in Heavy Rains?

Not generally, the fine mesh systems are rated by the leading Consumer Magazine at 7 ½” per hour of rainfall. In our tests we see and even greater performance, however, in some instances where you have high winds in valleys on steep pitched roofs you could see a waterfall effect where the rain rushes so fast that it misses the gutter system completely.

  • How does your product differ from those made from plastic or uPVC?

The ArmourGuard family of products are made from extruded aluminum which provide un-paralleled strength. In heavy snow or ice climates, the weight of the ice/snow can cause the plastic frames to collapse inside the gutter system. Additionally, plastics and uPVC material can easily warp in high temperatures causing the screen mesh to separate from the frame. ArmourGuard extruded aluminum will not warp and the rubberized adhesive that holds the screen to the frame will expand and contract with the fluctuation in temperatures.

  • Will debris ever sit on the ArmourGuard Screen?

ArmourGuard Products are designed to fit at the same pitch as your roof so debris will naturally wash or blow off the gutters. In some instances debris can sit in areas that are protected from the weather. In those cases a simple reverse bristle brush with an extension pole will easily remove the debris. We might add, however, that any debris that sits on the gutter guard will not generally impede water from entering the gutter system.

  • Will your mesh ever clog from dirt, dust, or pollen's?

No. The fine mesh micro screens are self-cleaning when it rains and will not clog.

  • How does snow and ice affect ArmourGuard Gutter Guards?

All fine mesh gutter guards are made from some form of stainless steel. At temperatures below freezing, any melted water from the roof due to energy loss will simply refreeze on the screen. In cases such as this ArmourGuard Ice® is the best solution as it has an integrated low temperature self-regulating cable in the outer edge of the frame. This will heat the extrusions and mesh to above melting temperatures and easily and effectively eliminates ice dams and icicles. No other gutter guard has this ability. It’s truly a four seasons gutter guard

  • How much per foot does ArmourGuard cost?

  • Gutter Guards: Do they cause damage?

Some wonder if gutter protection is a contributing factor to ice problems.

It is possible for some gutter protection systems to be the cause of an ice dam. Here are some reasons why: They may have a lack of durability. A cubic foot of ice weighs approximately 60 lbs. If the gutter guards are not strong enough to withstand this weight, they will buckle into the gutter system creating an obstacle.

When this happens, an ice dam forms and causes potential damage to the home. Reverse curve gutter covers quickly freeze on the top and in the opening of the nose of the guard. When this happens, there is no place for the water to go and a dam forms. This generally contributes to very large icicles. Raking the snow off a roof will only have marginal success, as the opening on the front nose is still frozen. When this occurs, it closes off any area for the water to enter and evacuate naturally to the ground.

Micro screen aluminum gutter guard covers are a better choice. Ice and snow can build up, but they are easier to roof rake over the reverse curve covers. The ice and snow melt quickly once the screen is visible to the sun. This allows the water to flow and keep the gutter system from icing up.

ArmourGuard Ice heated gutters guards are the best choice to prevent ice dams as they melt any ice or snow immediately and never allow the ice dam to form. They are higher in cost than conventional gutter covers but are the first choice in areas where ice and snow are a way of life.

If you do not need gutter protection, IceArmour is a great solution.
